    The question will be viewed ridiculous by medical professionals. Because the threat of diabetes, hypertension or obesity is not restricted to the older generation anymore. Even children in their teens and young people like in their twenties or thirties are equally vulnerable.

    What is worse? The eating patterns and cravings developed early in their life renders people almost addicted to certain food and desserts. The onset of diabetes or hypertension also does not help much. They take medicines and fatty food together.

    A parent on one hand must improve the ‘balanced diet’-concept on the food served on the table at home; and in equal vein caution the kids about what they eat as they party or share their lunch in the school with other kids.

    The weight gain happened- may be rapidly but certainly never overnight.  The time that will be required to reverse the weight gain is months. I won’t say years because a consistent effort will bring much of relief and the desired weigh loss within a few months.

    But the entire process of food intake and an audit of food preferences and mends in food quantity and contents is very subjective. An individual will have to decide based on the cravings and intake and bring in alternatives and cutting down fat intakes.

    It’s ‘Eureka’ feel for the past 2 years. This is no hype. No exaggeration. This is simple feel good state after learning the most wonderful truth! What is that? I CAN DEMAND MY PHYSIQUE THE OUTPUT AS I DID WITH MY MIND. In other words, I found out that my body responded as I went on increasing the length and intensity of physical exercises or trekking and it also adopted to trimmed strict diet with adequate protein and HDL. Now there are twin benefits 24/7. No body pain. No muscle pull or cramps. No irritability during prolonged hours of driving a car or motor cycle (I mean like 10 hours at a stretch with 3 very short breaks.) It’s really a very wonderful good feel. May be it took about 2 years of consistent workout and dieting to reach this stage but 2 years pass whether I am focused on better health or not!

    Please feel very motivated to plunge into better physical fitness pursuit!

    Let’s find out who is an athlete in our circle?

    Irrespective of our age or gender, for a minute let’s ponder who was / is an athlete in our friends/ kith-and-kin circle. There was someone in the school or college who wasn’t our own friend. (He / she was a celebrity like.)

    In our present life we can’t (mostly) find an athlete. We are surrounded by non-athletes. In the same vein can I say ,’we are surrounded by obese’. Certainly not. There are many persons in our own circle who are into fitness and balanced diet. If we keep our eyes and ears open we would find they are very choosy about the food we spread on the dining table. We sometimes fail to appreciate why one person repetitively gifts dry fruits or fresh fruits and not pastry or burger during his visits to our home.

    The consciousness about fitness and weight and agility is not the prerogative on an athlete alone. We are all capable of leading a better and fitter life. The resolve to give dieting and workouts is not far away. As you choose to read this post, it is obvious that you are looking for an earliest opportunity and motivation to give the fight against fab a start.

    I would say an athlete trains a lot. With the training, his/her endurance level and the stamina to withstand the impact of prolonged intense physical activity is exemplary, On the other hand we are trying to get better agile and fitter. Of course, in the longer run irrespective of age any person can groom himself/herself into an athlete. w

    So, let’s make a beginning soon and start reducing the trans fat and saturated fat from our plate and find out what would make a balanced diet to our taste.

    The threshold for a man (as he bloats) in the waist line is 40 and for a woman it is 35 inches.   First let me hasten to add that, it does not mean at all, if your waist line is <40 or <35 everything is fine, and there is no need for any medical checkup or lab test and all that. It is just a threshold. One needs to periodically check his/her lipid profile and glucose in the blood for ruling out heart ailments or diabetes.

    Coming back to 40 and 35, this caution is broadly used by medical professionals across the world to remind you where is the panic button, as you near middle age. When your waist nears this line, it only means that it has already pressed the panic button. Time to wake up and run a whole-body check-up. And it also means that cutting down junk food and trans-fat and saturated fat was long over-due.

    How you must look? What dress you must wear for office or party or for holidaying? It is all your taste. Your freedom. Nonetheless, anyone looks better, when the waist line is not horribly fatty, and the person is agile enough to move and do things without any difficulty.

    If someone asks me to compare my experiences in outdoor exercises in comparison with the present gym-based workouts, I would clearly choose gym as the better option. The following are the reasons:

    1.We get to join a very self-motivated fitness-conscious section of the society. Daily we find many of our neighbors coming and working out and it gives us plenty of motivation to continue and it becomes like a socio-individual activity.

    2.The equipment in the gym like treadmill, elliptical, bicycle or different weight-lifting options are unique and we get to give sufficient exercise to all the muscles in various parts of our physique.

    3.Jogging or brisk walking requires a good, well-laid trail and the entire route must not have any hurdles and climate is always a threat, particularly the monsoon.

    4.There trainers to help a newcomer to a gym to acquaint them with the ideal workout duration using various gym equipment.

    5.There is need to use open space or public space for jogging and do exercises inside home for anyone. A person hitting gym finds everything under one roof.

    Nonetheless, I would suggest please shop for dumble of various weights, step-board, skipping rope and foldable workout-bench etc. These cost very less but the benefits are far too many.

    I fully appreciate the work schedule of those in middle age is very tight and those who daily commute long distances to workplaces have no time to go to a gym at all. Still they must do jogging or brisk walk for a minimum half an hour outside home and for the same length of time workout inside home.
